The charm of the Yaesu, Nihonbashi, and Kyobashi area is that you can find delicious food from both Japan and abroad, and you can choose a restaurant according to your purpose and mood. GOKINJYO, a community of women workers in this area, introduces their favorite dishes in this relay series.
In the area surrounding Yaesu Midtown and redevelopment fences, there is a street lined with shops, and we headed to one of them, “Kyobashi Miyakodori”.
When I passed through the low entrance, I found a cool counter, and there was also a second floor, but this time I was guided to a table in the back. It had just the right amount of seclusion.
“The Kaoru course” starts with an appetizer and chicken salad. After settling my stomach with a refreshing salad and daikon radish soaked in broth, I had chicken breast with grated yam. The balance between the chicken breast soaked in soy sauce and the grated yam was perfect. The laver was also very good.
And then it was time for a chaotic skewer. Chicken breast with wasabi. Thigh with sauce. The chewy offal and the fluffy chicken meatballs. It goes well with both shichimi and Japanese pepper. And, it’s great that they have both shichimi and Japanese pepper as condiments. I ate it while enjoying the different flavors depending on my mood.
The sweetly seasoned Japanese rolled omelet called Oyakoyaki is a great palate cleanser. In the meantime, we also snack on Genkotsu-Age(fried cartilage) and Shu-Kara-Set (a set of shumai and fried chicken).
In the second half, the skewers start with chicken neck meat. The saltiness of the skin and chicken wings is just right. It’s also nice that the last skewers are not chicken. Quail, green onion, and ginkgo nuts.
To finish off, we had chicken soup with ginger. It’s important that it’s kind to the stomach. I’m also interested in the minced meat rice bowl and chicken porridge, but that’s all for today.
The customer service has a stance of not interfering with the excitement of the occasion, but I like how they have a sense of distance when I order something similar and say, “This is the same, so let’s stop.”
As we eat and drink, the conversation moves from one place to another, from our favorite places in the house to the philosophical question of what we live for. We don’t get an answer, but my heart relaxes and the alcohol flows.
