The charm of the Yaesu-Nihonbashi/Kyobashi area is that you can choose the restaurant that best suits your purpose and mood, as well as the delicious foods from Japan and abroad. In this relay series, GOKINJYO, a community of women workers in this town, introduces their favorite menus.
Located just a 2-minute walk from Nihonbashi Station, “IN THE BARREL” is a cozy bar featuring hundreds of varieties of alcohol from around the world.
People often assume that at a bar, the focus is on drinks and the food isn’t anything to write home about, but that’s definitely not the case here.
“IN THE BARREL” offers an extensive selection of creative, multinational dishes that pair perfectly with beer and wine. Enjoying a beer alongside a delicious appetizer in the bar’s atmosphere—which evokes the feel of a bar abroad—is the perfect way to relax and unwind.

This time, I ordered the octopus carpaccio and the Margherita.
The octopus carpaccio had a slightly Japanese-style flavor to it, and it was absolutely delicious. Since the Margherita is baked to order, the crust is soft and fresh out of the oven—it’s a dish you can easily polish off all by yourself.

One of the pleasures here is enjoying delicious food and drinks from around the world while watching movies on the TV screens inside the restaurant.
When I visited just after 6:00 p.m. on a weekday, people on their way home from work began gathering one after another, creating a lively atmosphere that clearly showed just how popular the place is.
The counter seating has a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to dine alone, so many people come by themselves—it’s a place where you can easily drop in.

It’s the perfect spot not only when you want to enjoy delicious drinks and food in a relaxed atmosphere, but also when you want to have a leisurely chat with friends or coworkers. Why not stop by sometime?
