The “2024 Tokyo Square Garden Winter Illumination” will be held at Tokyo Square Garden, a large complex directly connected to Kyobashi Station, from Wednesday, November 6, 2024 to Friday, January 31, 2025.

This event is one of the largest illuminations in the Kyobashi area of Tokyo, decorating the winter night with approximately 170,000 LED bulbs. The lighting features environmentally friendly features such as the use of electricity derived from 100% renewable energy sources and the reuse of LED bulbs and decorations, which are redesigned and reused every year.

From 2022, the “Artist Collaboration Tree” will be exhibited in collaboration with artists facing environmental and other social issues.

Works by Ayune Shojima

This year, the third edition of the event, features artist Ayune Shojima, who has worked extensively on interior decorations for commercial facilities and collaborated with apparel and interior design brands.

Under the theme of “Link and coexistence,” the 8-meter-tall tree is decorated with ribbons, depicting animals and plants that live close to us and interact with each other, expressing “connection. The foot of the tree will also be decorated with 15 campus works of art, gently decorating the entire tree.

The campus works will be framed with wooden frames made from surplus building materials by HUB & STOCK and woodworker Eiji ARATANI, who are both involved in reducing building material loss.

On Wednesday, November 6, the first day of the event, a lighting ceremony and a Christmas concert by a local chorus group will be held. If you are in Kyobashi, why not visit?
