Head of the "Rogumi" group of Edo Town Firefighters
Akira Kashima
Comment
I was born in Nihonbashi into a family that has served as the head of the "Edo-machi fire extinguisher" clan for generations, so I have witnessed the activities of fire extinguishers since I was a child.
From the Edo period to the present day, firefighters have always been steeplejacks. After work, they gather together and train to pass on their skills such as ladder-riding, swinging a matoi, and kiyari(woodworking song).
This area is a town with the warmth of people that has remained unchanged throughout the years, even though development has progressed. Stores and restaurants that have been around for generations, along with large corporations, are all working together to make this community a great place to live.
