Robot art fascinates the world! Motoi Sorayama’s large-scale retrospective exhibition “Sorayama: Light, Transparency, Reflection -TOKYO-” to be held at “CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO” in Kyobashi, Tokyo
2026.03.26
From March 14 (Sat) to May 31 (Sun), 2026, “SORAYAMA: Light, Transparency, Reflection -TOKYO-,” the largest retrospective exhibition ever held by artist Motoi Sorayama, will be held at the Creative Museum Tokyo in Kyobashi, Tokyo. The exhibition will be held at “CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO” in Kyobashi, Tokyo.
Motoi Sorayama has been creating works based on the theme of “light, transparency, and reflection” for half a century. This exhibition brings together representative works from the late 1970s to the present, allowing visitors to enjoy the trajectory of his creation all at once.
Of particular note are the early robot works he painted for a whiskey advertisement in 1978 and his latest canvas works, which depict robots in a variety of motifs, including dinosaurs and unicorns. They evoke a futuristic world in which life and machines seem to have merged.
Also on display are original drawings of AIBO (AIBO), which he designed, and a representative work of art known as the Aerosmith album jacket.
In addition, the latest sculptures and a new video installation will also be on view, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy Sorayama’s works on an overwhelming scale, making it a spectacular experience.
The unique world view created by the mirror-like shining metal expressions and intricate details is breathtaking. This remarkable exhibition is perfect for art lovers as well as those who want to immerse themselves in an extraordinary world.

Also worth checking out is the theme café “Sorayama TAKEN CAFE&BAR” by NANZUKA TAKEN, an art bar that has been attracting attention since its opening in 2024.
The café offers a variety of food, drinks, and desserts inspired by the world of Motoi Sorayama’s works, allowing visitors to enjoy the unique worldview they experienced at the venue.
The café is open to visitors without reservations or exhibition tickets, and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Stop by as a spot to relax and enjoy the aftermath of the venue while immersing yourself in the world.
