I work in customer service at my family business, Kappo Shimamura. Yaesu is the town where I was born and raised. When I was a child, there were no buildings as big as there are now, and I used to play with my brother and friends in an empty lot in the neighborhood.
It is hard to imagine how much it has developed since then, and the town has changed a lot from what it used to be. Although it is a little sad, I am happy to see that Yaesu is becoming more well-known, and is bustling with new buildings and stores.

Born in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, he dropped out of the Department of Photography, Nihon University College of Art. While working on advertising visuals, he visits his hometown of Sasebo and has continuously exhibited his works. His photo books include HEAVEY METAL, 17, and Shashinron (on photography). He is a representative of the photo studio STUH studio, which is located in Hacchobori.
