The sake is burning at the long-established anago (conger eel) specialty store “Nihonbashi Tamai”

The charm of the Yaesu, Nihonbashi, and Kyobashi area is that you can find delicious food from both Japan and abroad, and you can choose a restaurant according to your purpose and mood. GOKINJYO, a community of women workers in this area, introduces their favorite dishes in this relay series.

Hello! I’m a comedian at Yaesu Nihonbashi Kyobashi. I’m Nikaido from Thailandruck, a comedian in my second year with Yoshimoto Kogyo.

I love eels so much that I even worked in an eel restaurant during my student days.

However!! Even though I love eel so much, I have never been to a restaurant that specializes in conger eel!! Even though they look similar!!

For this reason, I went!

“Nihonbashi Tamai” is a conger eel specialty restaurant located in Nihonbashi.

I had the medium-sized box of the Anago Kaiseki course meal, which was all about conger eel.

This is a wonderful kaiseki meal that I can see not only the conger eel box, but also various other aspects of conger eel, such as conger eel tempura and vinegared dishes.

I’ve actually never eaten proper conger eel, but it’s very soft and sweet. The boxed rice (conger eel box) that comes at the end of the kaiseki meal even comes with a side of soup stock…meaning I can change up the flavor! Changing up the flavor is the best.

It has a very gentle taste. The sharp tang of the wasabi is also nice.

And now we have a surprising alcohol!

It’s called “Aburi Sake” and contains conger eel that has been grilled overnight.

The way to drink it is… light it on fire to evaporate the alcohol before drinking it!

Unexpectedly fire.

I never thought a long-established restaurant would serve drinks like this that would be SNS-worthy. They taste great too.

Luxurious sake with conger eel broth. I’m so happy.

The conger eel I enjoyed in a restaurant that resembled a movie set went really well with the alcohol.
